Stets die gro\u00dfformatigen Zeichnungen Toba Khedooris im Blick verliert sie den Horizont ihres Forschens nicht aus dem Auge. Sie stachelt ihre LeserInnen an, eingespielte Denkpfade zu verlassen\u00a0\u2013 und wird sich damit nicht nur Freunde machen.<br \/>Dass sie dabei nicht alle relevanten und gegenw\u00e4rtig diskutierten Positionen aufgreift, l\u00e4sst den Fachmann manchen Literaturhinweis und erwarteten Disput vermissen\u00a0\u2013 doch schafft sie es damit, eine komplexe Gedankenf\u00fchrung leicht zu halten. Die assoziativen R\u00e4ume, die sich beim Betrachten des Unvollst\u00e4ndigen er\u00f6ffnen, f\u00fchren dieses Prinzip weiter. Sie scheinen unendlich und sind doch begrenzt. Toba Khedoori: Gezeichnete Malerei\u02bc [literally = Sign-Setting \/ Image-Perception. Toba Khedoori: Drawn Paintings] is the most thorough study of the artist\u2019s work to date. For, not only does it present in-depth analyses of Toba Khedoori\u2019s \u02bbdrawn paintings\u2019, it also is a very concise, and scholarly discussion of the phenomenology of draftsmanship under contemporary conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Leisch-Kiesl convincingly shows that our understanding of Khedoori\u2019s work benefits greatly from reading it through some of the most definite European philosophers\u2019 concepts (Derrida, Gottfried Boehm, et al.) and current image theory as well.<\/p>\n<p>Leisch-Kiesl\u2019s book is pleasant reading to the mind, yet never underestimates its readership. It should appeal to anyone, whether academically trained or not, who is interested in Toba Khedoori\u2019s work and the true complexity of her artistic concept.<\/p>\n<p><em>Dr. Stephan E.
